Two women were fighting over a child. He is my child. Leave him alone, cried the lady in the red sari. The poor child was too young to speak, no he is mine cried the woman in the green sari. Soon a crowd gathered. The Village Elders took the quarreling women to a wise man.
The Village wise man asked the lady in the red saree. What do you have to say? He is my child. Sir I was bathing in the river and had left my son on the bank. This woman lifted my child and ran away. I hurriedly dressed and ran after her, said the woman.
The wise man asked the other woman to explain. She is a liar sir I was the one bathing in the river he is my only child. She came there, picked them up and ran. Luckily, I could catch her. Said the other woman. The villagers who were watching this drama did not know whom to believe.
The wise man got up using a twig. He drew a line on the ground and asked two women to stand on either side of the line and pleased the child in the middle. एक बच्चे को लेकर दो महिलाएं आपस में झगड़ रही थीं। वह मेरा बच्चा है। उसे अकेला छोड़ दो, लाल साड़ी में महिला रोई। बेचारा बच्चा बोलने के लिए बहुत छोटा था, नहीं वह मेरा है हरी साड़ी में महिला रोई। जल्द ही भीड़ जमा हो गई। गाँव के बुजुर्ग झगड़ालू महिलाओं को एक बुद्धिमान व्यक्ति के पास ले गए।
गाँव के जानकार ने लाल साड़ी वाली महिला से पूछा। आप को क्या कहना है? वह मेरा बच्चा है। सर मैं नदी में नहा रहा था और अपने बेटे को किनारे पर छोड़ आया था। यह महिला मेरे बच्चे को उठा कर भाग गई। मैंने जल्दी से कपड़े पहने और उसके पीछे दौड़ी, महिला ने कहा।
बुद्धिमान व्यक्ति ने दूसरी महिला को समझाने के लिए कहा। झूठी है साहब मैं ही नदी में नहा रहा था वो मेरी इकलौती संतान है। वह वहां आई, उन्हें उठाकर दौड़ी। सौभाग्य से, मैं उसे पकड़ सका। दूसरी महिला ने कहा। इस नाटक को देख रहे ग्रामीण समझ नहीं पा रहे थे कि किस पर विश्वास करें।

ग्रामीणों ने उत्तर दिया कि जो जाने देती है वह बच्चे को अधिक प्यार करती है। बुद्धिमान व्यक्ति बच्चे को लाल साड़ी वाली महिला से दूर ले गया। केवल आपकी माँ ही अपने बच्चे के लिए कोमल हृदय रख सकती है। उन्होंने कहा कि उन्होंने बच्चे को असली मां को सौंप दिया, जिसने बच्चे को गले से लगा लिया। बच्चा चोर को सख्त चेतावनी दी गई और उसने जाना पसंद किया।
